Meet Darley in Illinois

Outside of Chicago, Illinois, enjoy a sneak peek of two new “Travels with Darley” PBS TV episodes, including “Route 66 & Midewin” and “Ottawa & Beyond” during special upcoming screenings. The first Illinois screening will take place on April 1 at the Mar Theater in Wilmington for the “Route 66 & Midewin” episode. On April 11th, catch both episodes at the Joliet Area Historical Museum in Joliet, where host Darley Newman be in attendance to kick off this special spotlight on Illinois.

The first preview event of “Route 66 & Midewin” will be held on Saturday, April 1 at 3 p.m. at The Mar Theater in Wilmington, Ill. The address is 121 S. Main St., Wilmington, IL 60481. The original stage, ceiling, lobby and ticket booth remain intact at this 1937 movie theater just off of Route 66. The show will screen at 3 p.m. Following the screening, Midewin Archaeologist Joe Wheeler will moderate a stand-up Q&A panel featuring many of those who were involved in production. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more. Event posting on Facebook.

The second screening of “Route 66 & Midewin” will be held on Tuesday, April 11 in Joliet. The screening will take place at the Joliet Area Historical Museum. The address is 204 N Ottawa St., Joliet, IL 60432. A reception will be held in the visitor center from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The lively, 1950s rockabilly décor will be a fun setting for a show about Route 66. The actual screening will take place at 6 p.m. in the museum’s beautifully refurbished auditorium on the lower level. Museum Executive Director Gregory Peerbolte will moderate a stand-up Q&A panel following the screening. Event posting on Facebook.
